HI All
I have been trying to get a more productive workflow going, and now I have a graphics tablet, I can work in a different way.
In my briefs I usually come up with lots of ideas and inspiration, most of which is not recorded or included in my assignments. This is due mostly to limiting time factors or apathy towards the inspiration idea. However with my speeded up workflow in editing, hopefully I can now put together my ideas in photoshop either composite or drawn and communicate complex ideas easier and using the adage of “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.
Below is an idea for the quotations assignment and comes from Andre Breton who says ” I wish I could change my sex as easily as I change my shirt.”
I am also beginning to get my head around gradient maps. I hope the example bleow shows the difference this can make to the Bottom image has a gradient as a top layer and this helps to blend a composite, the first image shown is without the top gradient layer and shows the difference the gradient layer makes in blending together a composite image. The image is quite rough, as I am still learning how to master photoshop and I gave myself 15 minutes to complete the image from scratch after finding some images. hopefully the finished images will get slicker as my skills and understanding of compositing images improves.

This is one of my ides for the project and the rest of my image ideas will be published under the Quotations heading, it shows a man changing his shirt and a female looking back from a mirror to show the quote. with a little longer than the fifteen minutes I gave myself, I would have also changed the girls head in the mirror to the mans head, to further bring the quotation into play. This will be done when the images are uploaded into the headings section.

“.. with a little longer than the fifteen minutes I gave myself, I would have also changed the girls head in the mirror to the mans head, to further bring the quotation into play….”
Just wondering why you gave yourself 15 minutes. You have much longer to consider this…
mmm…
I am trying to develop my working practices and to be able to at least keep up in a very basic way to professional timescales. I struggle at drawing, in so much as I have the ideas, but how do I get them out in a communicable way, with very little artistic skill.
I need to be able to get the basic ideas out quickly. This is also a quick mock up of an idea and shows the starting point of development. there are fourteen Quotes and fifteen minutes each is a couple of hours for the whole list.
If writing the ideas out it would take days. This would then free me up to be more productive in either research or crafting the whole concept of the final shot.
If in a drawing, I can convey all of that in a fifteen minute mock up montage in order to get the required result.
This would then also show me any perspective or depth of field problems quickly as I put the initial image together.
What angles am I going to use, what lighting, am I shooting kelvin in order to blend light sources in post production, as I then put the image together, (angles, lighting, shadows, depth of field, focus points and composition), would be in my mind, as I scroll through pages of images looking to composite the initial mock up idea together. this also helps by mimicking requirements, as I solve the potential problems that could, should, maybe, or possibly occur, in fifteen minutes and then know whether to carry on with the concept or think of another one to develop.
I hope this answers your question.
