Victoria Shoot 02

For this shoot we choose to go out later and shoot into the dark. The reasoning would be to make the conditions slightly easier to light and to try and blend the flash into the street lighting in the scenes.  This would also help in trying to get some more fashion images for both my portfolio and the assignment.  From my research, there are two broad ways of capturing fashion imagery. The first is to accentuate the item for sale. The second could involve not even having the product in the image, but selling the brand, to sell the products` it has commissioned. For this shoot I will once again try to get the items to be, sold through advertising, prominent within the frame. I will try to get some posed and creative shots in the process, using the hyper-saturated colours from the street-lighting and then adding my lighting for the model, in a way that I have not seen before. The idea came from some of my night shots for the documentary re-submission. seeing the urban landscapes, I have been trying to work out how to put a model in an underpass, whilst shooting her in a studio, as the location is in the middle of a very bad area in hull, and would not be safe to take anybody who does not have any street-sense, unless with a big crew and security. Then whilst selecting images for the documentary re-submission, I saw my sets, and the way the model could be lit daylight in the differing light sources on location. I am sure this will make her pop out, if I can correctly manipulate the whole capture process.

In some of the images I had to place a coloured gel into the diffusion unit, in order to match the light details in the background, this can be seen in some of the images where the handrails are the wrong colour in the image, and then, with the gel in place, the handrails colour balance, within the frame correctly. this can be particularly seen in images 3856 and 3857.

I think in these images I have an idea that can be developed and worked upon to create a look, I used the same system as the last model shoot, finding the main light source and then positioning the model and then adding a little fill-in flash, to lighten the shadows and bring out the model.

Further development, will be from taking an assistant and start to utilise my other additional lighting. bringing in another wireless flash, or another two optical flash units into the images. This re-submission will then become the starting point for my third year Fashion Portfolio, which will get updated as other images are taken.
