I have just got the finished images from, post processing, along with two videos made for advertising the venues in question. They have been put up on the sites Facebook pages and galleries of the named businesses. When I turned up, I was informed about photographing some entertainers outside later, little knowing that there would be fire breathing. When I realised this, my head melted. How would I be able to capture the contrasting light values in street lighting of some people fire breathing. It would either have blown out highlights or black silhouette shadowing of the performers. If I used flash then that would also create its own problems, as I had a wireless unit but no means of having it further away from the camera than arms reach, and with no way of getting an assistant or two, at this short a notice, I was on my own. Then there was the fact that I would be photographing in front of a crowd that would be trying to cross through the frame, along with the road traffic.
When the time came, the shoot went as well as could be expected. Capturing images in between dodging groups of people moving through the frame and having to clear the road for the numerous taxis passing by as they dropped and picked up their customers. The bollards across the way proved the biggest hurdle.. In the end, I had to just shoot, whilst negotiating these obstacles and the girls went through their performances only halting occasionally,to allow the passers by space, and to refuel. I tried using both flash and ambient light, in order to have two chances of getting successful images. in the end the natural light images proved the best. not having an assistant or two to hold the flash off camera from pleasing angles, in order to get the performers correctly lit in the images, was by-passed. Having to move for the traffic and some groups of people made me miss some key moments in the display. however images were captured and the clients pleased with the results. The contact details of the girls was procured and hopefully a shoot is being arranged for further images, for both our portfolios. in a more controlled environment, Hopefully, the full colouration of the flames can be captured and controlled, in order to get a lot higher quality photographic imagery and show the girls in their best light.

The original images are in the shooting diary, the selected images from social media galleries are in the galleries section and the videos are in the Show Reels section of the main headings, under Karl Jefferies 02
