I have just watched this screening by Cig harvey and the video is about how to use a photography to tell a visual story. she starts off by explaining the shift in her vision from taking a photograph of something, and experimenting and learning how to take an image of something. This resonated with me, as sometimes I take pictures of things and sometimes I take pictures about things. To me their are different ways of looking at an object or situation, by using relativity to give me differing viewpoints and observations of the same object. This has helped me and allows me give variety to the way in which I experiment and practice my photography.
Cig then goes through some of projects and states that a lot of her work is portraiture, whether she is in the frame or not, within the images, Then how her definition of landscape photography has changed from studying Ansel Adams by reading Robert Adams book; Beauty in Photographs: essays in defense of the Traditional Values.
